There are two bullets pointed at the head of the people right now. One is insecurity, the other is corruption and one or the other is going to kill Nigeria if our rulers continue to sleep-walk over these matters. It’s only a matter of time.
Few things are more debilitating than the toxic silence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on insecurity. First, in the South-West and second, nationally. This idea of looking the other way in the face of killings, kidnappings as well as massive threats to lives and properties, I believe are leaks that can sink the ship of his political ambition.
The scary part is that, with the horde of “political assists,” those he single-handedly helped to power might want to reciprocate in 2023.
Two gifted prolific writers, hunters of excellence, gurus in the media, Dr. Lasisi Olagunju and Mr. Obadiah Mailafia, writing for a national best-selling newspaper, the Tribune, have powerfully conveyed their feelings; Dr. Lasisi wrote “How Yoruba’s Leopard got its claws” and Mailafia wrote on “The leopard and the golden calf.” These are must-read articles on the “Amotekun dream” of the South-West and suitable for the rest of the country.
