Nigerian Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has shared his view on the link between money, depression and happiness, saying financial success does not always solve emotional struggles.

He stated this while reacting to a viral post on X that suggested people dealing with depression only needed money to feel better.

“You’re not depressed, you need 20 million naira,” an X user claimed in the post that gained attention online.

Responding to the claim, Egbuson wrote, “It’s not always about money sha.”

His comment sparked conversations on social media, with many users discussing other causes of depression beyond financial hardship.

Some people agreed with the actor, noting that issues such as grief, anxiety and personal loss can affect mental health regardless of wealth.

Others argued that financial problems remain one of the major causes of depression, adding that many people would feel better if they had enough money to meet their needs.
