Man, 24, faces trial for stabbing employer’s friend to death

AN Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, remanded an aluminium fabricator, Seun Shoyele in Ikoyi Prisons custody for allegedly stabbing his employer’s friend to death with a dagger.

Magistrate A.O. Agbona, who gave the order did not take the plea of Shoyele, 24, who had appeared on charges of conspiracy and murder.

The prosecutor, Insp Kehinde Olatunde, had told the court that the defendant and three others, still at large, committed the offences on Sept 3 at 8 p.m. on Adegbuyi St., Olanukan, Ishawo, a Lagos suburb.

He alleged that the defendant and one other were summoned by a third friend to kill the deceased, Mr Olanrewaju Adetola, 40.

“The deceased had scolded one of the alleged culprits, who are still at large; this got him angry and in a bid to revenge, mobilised the defendant and one other, who had gone to the deceased’s house to stab him with a dagger on his chest,“ he said.

The offences contravened Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The magistrate remanded the defendant in prison custody pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

He adjourned the matter until Oct 17 for advice.
