GOVERNOR Kashim Shettima has commended the Commander in Chief of the armed forces of Nigeria, President Mohammed Buhari for his immense support in ensuring that the Boko Haram insurgents are defeated in the northeast of Nigeria.
The Governor regretted that in spite of the fact that the nation was faced with various security challenges of our time, he knows that with the support of the Army, we will overcome all odds.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the combat support arms training week 2018 held at the marmalari barracks, Maiduguri, Shettima equally expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian army for its continuous support and successes in spite of all odds against the insurgents.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy Usman Drukwa said he wished all the fighters in the theatre well even as he prayed for God’s continuous protection and guidance on all uniformed personnel working day and night for lasting peace in a bid to keep Borno state safe.

Army Chief, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai said the Boko Haram insurgents have been technically defeated but there is still more to be done which is why troops must remain proactive at all times.
“As combat support arms, you have a major role to play in the final defeat of the terrorist. Let me reaffirm that the current transformation within the Nigerian Army is in line with my resolve to develop a highly professional, responsive and functional Army capable of conducting all ground operations using resources.
He assured that the Army high command shall continue to do its best to ensure that the welfare of officers and men are well taken care of within the financial capabilities of the force adding that they must remain apolitical at all times.
He called on men of the Nigerian Army to remain completely loyal to civil authorities even as the nation plans for its next general elections.
