THE management of the Ilorin Central Jum’mat Mosque in Ilorin, Kwara State, has installed surveillance cameras in the mosque complex to ensure the security of worshippers.

The Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) project covers both the interior and exterior parts of the expansive mosque complex, whose functions can be monitored by the designated officers from their phones and from any part of the world.

The chairman of the mosque’s Central Working Committee, Alhaji Sheu AbdulGafar, disclosed this on Thursday during a meeting of the mosque’s Board of Trustees members and other stakeholders in Ilorin.

AbdulGafar, who presented the 2021 progress report of the mosque, said the management also completed the mosque’s library complex which has a collection of about 20,000 books and journals covering all aspects of Islamic studies and a few professional books on engineering, law, accounting and English language.

The library, which is equipped with internet facility, serves both digital and manual users.

The chairman disclosed that the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, had approved the use of 65 plots of land at the Ilorin Yidi praying ground for investment purposes for the Central Juma’at Mosque.

AbdulGafar also said that the state government had issued a certificate of occupancy (C of O) in respect of the Ilorin Yidi praying ground in favour of the Ilorin Central Juma’at Mosque.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the central mosque, Justice Alfa Belgore, noted that Ilorin is wholly Islam.

The former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), who said that the people of Ilorin are God-fearing and peaceful, urged the people to continue in that regard.
