  • With a First Class degree in Fine Arts from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1973, he received his MA and PhD degrees at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA, and returned to the University of Lagos, where he eventually became Director of the Centre for Cultural Studies before finally relocating to the U.S. in 1993.

 

  • Professor jẹ́gẹ́dẹ́ is actively engaged in full-time art-making. Represented by Calabar Gallery in New York, he has recently had a spate of online exhibitions, with paintings that continue to critique the socio-political conditions of American society. His work seeks to contribute to the ethos of the artist as a prognosticator and chronicler.
