Get your materials ready

You need to buy a fine-mesh insect net from your local market. You also need small wooden battens, a measuring tape, small nails, a hammer, and scissors to cut the net.

Measure your window correctly

You must measure the inner frame of your window before buying your wood. Use your tape rule to get the exact height and width so that the new frame will fit tight without leaving spaces for insects.

Cut and join the wood

Cut the wooden battens according to the window measurements you took earlier. Join the four corners together with nails to form a clean rectangular wooden frame that fits your window space.

Fix the net on the frame

Spread your fine insect mesh over the wooden frame tightly. Nail the edges down gently while pulling the net straight so that there are no loose folds or open gaps left for midges to crawl through.

Place the frame inside your window
