How suspected herdsmen killed my father — Ohanaeze youth leader

The National Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mr Demain Okeafor has narrated how suspected herdsmen killed his father who was in the farm before he met his untimely death.

According to Okeafor who noted that the incident happened yesterday (Sunday) said the herders also attacked and killed two other men.

Mr Okeafor disclosed this in an interview with Tribune online on Monday evening where he noted that the wife to the INEC officer killed was also kidnapped by the herdsmen.

“I was at home after church service and got a call that my father was killed and butchered by Fulani herdsmen who invaded my community and that of Mpu in Enugu State leading to Enugu Portharcourt road.

“They shot one man on his and took his wife to the bush and inside the bush they saw my father feeding his ram so for my father not to disclose their direction, they c*t my father into pieces.

“This incident is a horrible one and I am appealing to the government to come and help us because we are helpless.

“The news we heard now is that the death toll is 3 and they are all men,” he narrated.

“Police should mount check point in every to reduce this attack” Okeafor appealed.

When contacted the Chairman of council Area Mr. Emmanuel Ajah described the incident as unfortunate.

“They shot an INEC officer death through his windscreen and took his wife and some people on the road escaped.

“I have communicated with the CP and Army and they have entered inside the bush and they are on it to recover the woman alive.

_Ogwu road has been tackled and we are pleading with the military to put a checking point on this road. On my side, I’m already putting local vigilante to patrol that road,” the Chairman said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the development.

“Two persons were reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen. One was shot in the head through his windscreen and the other murdered in his farm with his throat cut,” the police spokesperson said.
