A 24-year-old postgraduate student of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Christopher Olusa, has expressed his readiness to make a record with the Guinness World Record (GWR) by providing a non-stop speech marathon by an individual.
Olusa, who hailed from Ondo state, disclosed that the GWR had given him the approval to go ahead with the Record event, tagged “From Words to World Records,” which will be held in Dejavu Hotel, Akure, the state capital, is scheduled to take place on September 11th, 2023.
According to him, he had undergone a series of mock trials to get acquainted with the Record events while saying he is physically and mentally prepared to embark on the record-breaking event and the medical team will be on standby to attend to any emergency.
Speaking during a Press conference in Akure, Olusa said he was driven by the passion to leave a lasting legacy that celebrates the power of words and inspires individuals to make a difference.
He said all the necessary guidelines to embark on the feat, noted that he would be reading inspirational materials, and said that all funds raised during the five-day marathon would be used to treat kids with speech challenges.
Olusa said his intention is to break the existing record of 90 hours two minutes held by Mr Ram Ananta of Nepal in August 2018 and said, “My journey has been one marked by dedication to the cause of change and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
“It is with this spirit that I bring you today’s announcement regarding the upcoming Speech Marathon, an event that embodies the essence of transformation and inspiration.”
Olusa said, “The genesis of this remarkable endeavor was born from an unwavering commitment to inspire positive change in our society. It is about transcending boundaries, shattering limits, and aspiring towards something extraordinary.
“Today, I am overjoyed to announce that our unwavering dedication has borne fruit, as Guinness World Records has granted us their esteemed approval for what promises to be an unprecedented feat.
“Our Speech Marathon is not just another event; it is a testament to human
determination and the unyielding power of words. Over the course of five days, we will embark on a journey of enlightenment as I read speeches from inspirational figures spanning the annals of history.
“From past and present world leaders to influential individuals who have left an indelible mark on our world, I will draw wisdom and inspiration from their words.
“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to our partners and sponsors who have already lent their invaluable support to this noble cause. Your faith in our mission has been instrumental in bringing us to this point, and I humbly request your continued support as we set out to make history.

“All funds raised during the marathon will be dedicated to the noble cause of training children with Aphasia, a brain disorder that affects speech and comprehension.
“This initiative will be conducted under the banner of the #TalkWithTheDuke Foundation, reflecting our commitment to making a meaningful impact on those in need.”
