The ambition of Honourable Alexander Segun Adekola to become the next governor of Ekiti State received a boost over the weekend as a group known as the Ekiti Patriotic Youth Coalition (EPYC), called on him to formally declare his ambition so that they can go to town and begin sensitisation programmes for the people to know where to put their votes.
The group, in a communiqué issued and signed by its President, Hon Ogundele Aluko and its spokesperson, Adekunle Omoboriowo respectively after a meeting of the group in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend, said Adekola remains the candidate to beat is the best among those who are coming out to vie for the position at this moment.
“Adekola is ready to make Ekiti State a better home for us. He is a man who knows when to set aside the important things in order to accomplish the vital ones; He is a man that always wants the success of others.
“A lot of people wouldn’t know the value of a good man until he is given a position of leadership and his performance in that position would form the bedrock of the assessment that he would continue to get if he’s given another chance to hold another bigger position later in life,” the group said.
According to the group, the performance of Adekola since the advent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State speaks volume of what he is capable of doing and how capable he could be if given an opportunity to represent the people.
They pointed to his sterling performance in the House of Representatives as the member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 of Ekiti State a few years ago. The group said nothing has been happening in the constituency since he left the office.
“We think it is onerous on all well-meaning Ekiti indigenes to appreciate the qualities in this man by voting for him to replicate what he has been doing all this while at the state level for the good of all Ekiti people,” it said.
It added that it is a thing of immense pride to have a worthy person like Adekola vying for the position of the governor of Ekiti State at this moment when things are rough and tough in the state and in the country in general.
