Gombe State Government has signed a contract agreement for critical infrastructure projects in the State in a landmark move to accelerate development across the State.

The signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation on Tuesday and attended by government officials and representatives of contracting firms.

Speaking after signing the contract agreement on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu commended the State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his commitment and zeal in bringing succour to his people.

Kallamu congratulated the contractors, urging them not to compromise standards in executing good qualitative work and deliver the project as agreed on the contract agreement documents.

He said, “His Excellency’s dedication to transforming Gombe into a model state is evident in these projects. We urge the contractors to adhere strictly to specifications and deliver quality work within the stipulated time frame.”

Kallamu assured the contractors of the government’s full support, emphasising that any deviation from agreed standards would not be tolerated.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mallam Danladi Adamu, said the projects are aligned with the governor’s vision for a modern Gombe.

He outlined the projects, which were approved during the last State Executive Council (SEC) meeting of 2025, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

The projects include: renovation and upgrade of the Gombe International Airport, Lawan tí, construction of roads and other essential facilities at the Qatar Foundation site along the Southern By-pass, Gombe and construction of a Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) Area Office in the Shehu Abubakar District.

Others are, construction of 6.3 kilometres of road within the newly developed Family Homes Estate, behind NNPC Depot Tunfure, extending to connect the inner suburbs of Northern Tunfure, and the construction of a road from ATC Gombe linking the GSU Express road.

Also among the approvals is the reconstruction of Layin Speaker road and its extension to connect with Kasuwan Mata Road and the construction of additional roads within the Special Capital Development Zone.

It also includes the extension of the new express road from Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) through the new State Secretariat Complex under construction, passing through Shongo Housing Estate and linking up with the Western By-pass.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Engineer Ibrahim Abba Gana of Tafamed Engineering Limited, expressed their delight at the opportunity given to them to execute the projects.

He re-echoed their commitment to sticking to specifications and completing the projects as contained in the contract agreement.

“We assure the state government that we will work harmoniously with the Ministry to deliver these projects based on the designed specifications and within the agreed timeframe,” Ibrahim Gana pledged.
