Former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, representing Shomolu Constituency 11, has urged Nigerians to use the season to rededicate themselves towards making sacrifices for the benefit of the country’s development.
Abiru made the call in a statement made available to newsmen as Nigerians joined Muslim faithful all over the world to celebrate Eid-il-Adha. He noted that the essence of the season was for Muslims to understand the importance of sacrifice, love, and peaceful coexistence. He appealed to Nigerians to work with people of other faiths to sustain peace, unity, and progress in the country.
Abiru, who is the former Chief Whip, posited that building a successful nation required citizens to be ready to work against any action that could sever her unity and stability.
“This is the season that we all should eschew violence, embrace unity, and peaceful coexistence irrespective of our status in the country,” he said.
Abiru said the occasion should remind Muslims and all people of faith in the country that Prophet Ibrahim’s support for his father to complete God’s task remained another virtue that citizens needed to emulate.
Speaking further, Hon. Abiru called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complete the ongoing efforts at turning around the economy and bringing the desired change to the nation.
The former lawmaker noted that supporting the Federal Government under Tinubu’s administration would make its policies targeted at making the nation become a true giant of Africa not only on paper but in reality.
Hon. Abiru, while noting that Tinubu as president was prepared for the leadership job, assured that the bold steps taken by his administration within the last month indicated that it started on the right footing, adding that all that was required by Nigerians was to support the government and abide by the law in the country.
