Nigerian business magnate, Honourable Dorume Oghenero has charged Delta State governorship candidates not to forget their vow to deliver on their electoral promises.
He said whoever becomes the next governor, his or her manifesto should not turn out to be a tool to lure the people into voting him or her into power, but a social contract he or she signed with the people of the state.
The Delta-born businessman said it was disheartening that after many emerge and get into power, they forgot the people who gave them the mandate at first.
Oghenero, while speaking, reminded them that the work at hand is huge and made their vision for a better, newer, liveable, and industrialised Delta achievable, and efforts must be put in place to bring it to reality.
“I must commend your tenacity for vying for office. Your campaign promises seemingly suggest that you have the solutions to the problems of Delta State.
“Your manifesto should not just be for the campaign, but see it as a contract you have signed with the people of Delta. Now walk the talk.
“You must be committed to undertaking the transformation of Delta and ensure impactful leadership because anyone who emerges was chosen among many qualified candidates.
“Nothing should discourage or stop your work plan for a better Delta. We are counting on you because we believe in you.
“Delta must be transformed to that mega industrialised economy. Our roads both in the rural areas and cities, markets, environment challenges must be addressed,” he said.
