Defection of Anambra deputy gov, total victory for Andy Uba ―  APC

Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has commended the defection of the state Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, as he dumped his boss, Chief Willie Obiano, and his political party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC.

Tribune Online gathered that Nkem Okeke, a former lecturer with Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, is alleged to be victimised as deputy governor of the state, to the extent that he is sidelined in major decisions concerning the state.

Okeke had previously been rumoured to have moved to the APC more than a week ago, but on Wednesday, he eventually declared for the APC at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

His entry into the party was witnessed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reacting further via a statement issued to Tribune Online in Awka, on Wednesday, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Chukwunonso Chinwuba, described the moved as a total victory for Senator Andy Uba in the November 6, 2021 Governorship election.

According to the spokesperson, the defection of the deputy governor of Anambra State to our great party APC is a welcome development and that is what Anambra needs at the moment and it will contribute a lot to our state connection to the center. The victory of our party is assured.

“The defection shows that APC and Sen Andy Uba is now acceptable by the Anambrarians”

He urged other political leaders in the state to follow suit, in respective of party affiliations.
