COVID-19: Anxiety, as Delta records 37 cases in 24 hours, total now 280

Barely 24 hours after Delta State confirmed a total of 243 COVID-19 positive cases, an additional 37 cases were late Monday night, confirmed in the state.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 280, active cases 190, discharged 73 and deaths, 17.

Invariably, the 37 positive cases were confirmed between last Sunday, June 14 afternoon and Monday night of June 15, a development that’s sending shivers into the spines of residents of the most hit parts of the state.

In the COVID-19 chart of July 15, 2020,  released by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charlse Aniagwu, on Tuesday, Oshimili South LGA is still leading with a total of 71 cases confirmed, 50 active, 19 discharged and two deaths.

Trailing behind are Uvwie and Warri South LGAs with the former having 53 total confirmed cases, 35 active, 14 discharged and four deaths, while the latter has a total of 43 cases confirmed, 24 active, 17 discharged and two deaths.

As of Tuesday, according to the chart, the confirmed 280 cases are spread across 17 local government areas out of 25 local government areas of the state.

Meanwhile, stiffer enforcement of the 7:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m curfew and the wearing of face masks has begun with a potpourri of security agents apprehending offenders on the streets of major towns of the state.
