The Federal Government has dismissed reports that the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has been postponed until after the 2027 general elections.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, in a statement on Friday, described as fake and unauthorised a purported press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, claiming that the recruitment exercise had been deferred due to funding constraints.

She said the document, titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and dated August 11, 2026, was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
According to the ministry, the purported statement did not originate from the Ministry of Interior, the office of the minister or the CDCFIB.
The statement read in part: “This press release is fake, unauthorised, and fraudulent. The Minister did not sign or issue this statement.”
The ministry further clarified that no decision had been taken to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general elections.
It stressed that the recruitment exercise is ongoing and urged members of the public and applicants to disregard the fake document.
The ministry advised applicants and members of the public to rely only on information published through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB for authentic updates on the recruitment exercise.
Ajani also directed applicants to the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for relevant information and updates.
