Governor Sani Bello of Niger State has said Boko Haram has not only infiltrated the state but has hoisted its flag at Kawuri in Shiroro local government council of the state.
The Governor confirmed this to Newsmen on Monday when he visited the Internationally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at IBB primary school camps at Munya and Shiroro.
He lamented that Boko Haram wanted to use the area as their home just as they have used Sambisa forest, saying, from intelligence reports they have hoisted their flag in Kawuri village.
However, he posited that while Sambisa is hundreds of kilometres away from Abuja, Kawuri is less than four hours drive thereby forcing serious danger to the nation’s capital.
He then called for collective efforts by all and sundry to defeat insurgency. He also Abuja is not safe and that it is time to act.
The Governor maintained that despite repeated complaints to Federal Government on their predicament for military and police reinforcement, he noted that nothing has been done.
However, he insisted that on their part Niger State government will not be discouraged in its resolve to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.
In his remarks, a youth leader from Munya local government council, Mr Bulus Esu, told the Governor that his people want to go back to their ancestral homes to farm.
