Sixty youths in Bauchi State have been empowered on various skills acquisition by Almuhibbah Foundation founded by Wife of the State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed.
Aisha Bala Mohammed made the disclosure at the commissioning of the Almuhhibah Foundation Empowerment Development Institute at the Ibrahim Bako Housing Estate, Bauchi.
She stressed that the gesture was born out of her desire to assist and reduce poverty among people in the society, especially the less privileged, youths and women.
Aisha Mohammed informed that the event was different from others in the sense that the commissioned centre will provide certificates to all the beneficiaries as well as have access to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Loans and other benefits.
She added that “with This newly established skills acquisition centre in Bauchi, I have hope that the centre will provide an avenue for women and youths to develop their potentials and contribute to the economic growth of the state and the country at large.”
The First Lady then decorated 200 non-commercial motorcyclists in the state with helmets, as part of her efforts to ensure the safety of the motorcycle riders while on the major roads across the state.
In her welcome address, the Director of Al-muhibbah Foundation, Hajiya Ladi Ibrahim said that the empowerment was aimed at reducing hardship and given means of survival to the beneficiaries,
She added: “It also strengthens the vulnerable household and business to be financially independent, when poverty is reduced, it eradicates crime and reduce infant mortality.”
In his address during the distribution, the State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Yusuf Ibrahim, applauded the First Lady for the wonderful initiative which can assist the motorcycle riders in the state towards safety precautions and reduce casualties in the event of accidents.
During the event, empowerment kits including the sum of N25,000 each were handed over to the beneficiaries such as Shoe Maker Kits, Barbing Saloon kits, Plumber kits, Carpentry kits and others.
