The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state has swept 22, out of the 23 Chairmanship seats so far declared on Sunday by the state’s Independent Electoral Commission(NSIEC) in the local government polls conducted on Saturday across the 25 local government areas of the state.
The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Aminu Baba made the announcement on Sunday while declaring the results in Minna, the state capital, adding that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the Chairmanship position in Gbako local government area of the state.

According to him, the results of the remaining two local government Areas of Mashegu and Tafa were yet to be submitted to the commission, as of the time of the release of the results of the elections in the 23 local government areas of the state at the Commission’s office in Minna on Sunday.
Speaking on the inconclusive elections in some local government areas of the state, the NSIEC Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Baba stated that the Commission, by law, have two weeks within which to conduct a rerun.
He, however, added that the Commission was still compiling the results of the Councillorship election, adding that when it was finally compiled, the results would be made public as soon as possible.
