A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Dekeri Anamero, has commenced the enrollment of 10,000 indigent students in Edo State for the West African Senior School Certificate Education (WASSCE).
The member representing Estako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives urged the various groups and organisations saddled with the responsibility of distributing the enrolment forms not to commercialise the process, stressing that the enrolment forms were free and meant to assist the students and their parents.
Anamero gave the charge in Benin when the application forms were handed over to the various groups and organisations that would reach the beneficiaries at his campaign office in Benin City.
The APC gubernatorial hopeful, who was represented by the Chairman of the Enrollment Committee, Emmanuel Iyase, Anamero, said, “I want to appeal to every one of you that there is a column in the form that is boldly written ‘Not for Sale’.
We want to implore you that as you pick up these forms here today, which have been allocated to various groups, including the Christian association, the Muslims, market women, the physically challenged, the internally displaced persons (IDPs), political wards, and others, we want to appeal that as you get the forms, please take them to your various locations. Please don’t sell; allow them to get to the people for the purpose that it was meant for, because it is not easy for an individual to enrol 10,000 candidates. You know what that means.
“We are also praying that God should increase the purse of the donor a hundredfold. We are the messengers, and we should take the message rightly to ensure that the purpose for which the project was conceived was met in all areas.
“Take these forms home, and within one week, please return the forms with the names and the information there so that we can credit the accounts of the various schools so that the purpose will be actualized.” He pleaded.
