Anambra 2021: Stop stalking Andy Uba, APC campaign team tells Primate Ayodele

Andy Uba

Andy Uba Campaign Council (AUCC), has appealed to the leader of the INRI Evangelical Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, to halt the fixation on Senator Andy Uba, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the Anambra 2021 governorship election.

They also alleged the primate made a false prophecy regarding APC and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

The team made the appeal in a statement signed by Adaoba Onyekachi Okafor and made available to Nigerian Tribune in Awka, on Friday.

The statement read in part: “We are once again constrained to call on all well-meaning individuals in Anambra and beyond to help prevail on Primate Elijah Ayodele, Leader, INRI Evangelical Church to halt this sudden fixation on Distinguished Senator Andy Uba, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the politics of Anambra State.

“We urge him to copy good examples from men of God who understand that one of the most cherished values of Christianity is its solute neutrality in human politics.

“It doesn’t signify impassivity. It simply acknowledges that rulership comes from God.

“Therefore, a situation where a man of God wakes up at random to make strange permutations in the name of prophecies like he has been doing, particularly in the last few days on Anambra state politics and it 2021 guber election leaves so much to be questioned.

“Again, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ayodele, in another set of his controversial prophecies painted unflattering image of the forthcoming election in Anambra State and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”

The statement alleged that “Primate Ayodele claimed that God showed him that there would be advanced rigging during the election, adding that the outcome would determine so many things ahead of the 2023 general election. He claimed that in his said vision, the ruling party wants to go all out to rig the election in favour of its candidate.

“It may help to also recall that the same self-proclaimed man of God had prophesied that APC stands a better chance of winning the election if it fields George Muoghalu, and the APC aspirant was defeated by Distinguished Senator Andy Uba at the party primary election.

“When the Primate made that prediction, we at the Andy Uba Campaign Council (AUCC), were forced to call him out for what he truly is.  We advise the cleric not to bring God’s altar to ridicule.

“Since it appears that the cleric is unwilling to listen to reason and common sense, we are again compelled to adhere to our earlier position on him that such blatant, open partisan and unabashedly unsolicited campaign, completely contrasts with teachings of Christianity, a religion Distinguished Sen. Andy Uba is completely devoted to.

“Was it not the same cleric who, in 2019, claimed that he saw a vision of Saraki winning the presidential election for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)? Did PDP win? Where is Saraki now?

“He also prophesied against APC and Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and said the party will lose, but the governor won up to Supreme Court.

“If one may ask, why is Primate Ayodele so fixated on APC and Anambra? Where was he when an opposition party won in Edo State? There have been elections at Bayelsa and Ondo so far credited with integrity. Why weren’t any visions made on them?

“Let us make it abundantly clear to men like Primate Ayodele and his sponsors that under President Muhammadu Buhari, old things have since passed away. Integrity has been the watchword, a reason why elections in Nigeria are becoming progressively cleaner.

“We advise him to project the country in a progressive manner.”
