Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar has revalidated his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Udubo ward of Gamawa LGA in Bauchi state on Monday, just as he took a swipe at a former national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for saying that the exercise is unconstitutional.
On the comments by some notable leaders of the APC against the ongoing exercise, Maitama Tuggar said that they are entitled to their opinions stressing, however, that there is nothing unconstitutional about the exercise.
He said, “Let them go to the courts to test the waters. We have a constitution guiding the party. If they are not satisfied, let them go to court. As far as I know, what the party is doing is right.”
Yusuf Tuggar who was speaking to journalists shortly after filling and submitting the revalidation form at the Udubo Central Primary School, Udubo said that the APC-led Federal Government is investing in vital infrastructure projects that are not only engendering economic development but also improving overall human indices in Nigeria.
The chieftain of the ruling APC who is from Bauchi State stressed the importance of the ongoing revalidation and registration exercise is for repositioning of party, stressing that it was because of the importance that he came from Germany for the exercise.
He, however, appealed to old members of the APC to come out and revalidate their membership of the party, while he urged new members to register and join the APC in order to bolster the membership base of the party. The exercise which started on the 9th is expected to last for two weeks.
He said that “President Muhammadu Buhari has recorded milestones in the provision of infrastructure that has been unprecedented in our recent history, the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna rail line, Lagos-Ibadan rail line, the second Niger bridge, amongst several others.”
He further stated that the Federal Government has attracted funding from the German state Bank, KfW, European Export Credit Agencies and Africa Finance in a venture that will see Mota-Engil constructing the 283km line connecting Kano with Maradi in the Niger Republic.
Yusuf Tuggar added that the rail line will also cover other cities such as Danbatta, Kazaure, Daura, Mashi, Katsina and Jibiya adding that, “This rail project is expected to boost commerce in the region and aid in establishing Nigeria as an export hub.”
Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar represented Gamawa Federal Constituency from Bauchi State in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
He is currently Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, appointed in the year 2017 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
