THE flag bearer of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the forthcoming September 22 governorship poll in Osun, Chief Moshood Adeoti, on Tuesday said the party remain the only comfort abode to all politicians with progressive leanings.
This was contained in a press release signed by the media aide to Adeoti, Mr Kayode Agbaje, which was forwarded to the Tribune Online in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Apparently reacting to the Monday’s defection of the vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Azeez Adesiji and eight other executive members of the ruling party to the ADP, Adeoti posited that “our party serves as a home to all progressives as the APC shelter is fast becoming desolate.”

Adeoti, who welcomed the defectors, alongside their supporters, numbering over 6,000 contended that “in view of the dwindling fortune of the APC in recent times, the only best choice to all progressives is the ADP which has become a suitable home to all”.
According to him, “we must work together to ensure victory at the September 22 governorship poll and also avoid what led to the mass exodus of committed members from the APC” adding that “the worst of democracy is still far better than any autocratic rule.”
While affirming his strong belief in the democratic institutions in the country, Adeoti stressed that “what we need at the moment is the collective prayers of all for the success of Nigeria’s democracy and success of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
He, however, tasked members of the ADP to collaborate with decampees from other political parties in shoring up the electoral chances of the party ahead of the governorship election in Osun, stressing that the struggle to salvage the state should be the primary concern of all citizenry, irrespective of religious and political affiliations.
