Life can be so daunting, and unfavourable but above all, you have to keep on solving every puzzle that comes your way. That’s one of the powers of being a human being.

Contents
  • 1. Stop Comparing
  • 2. Trust the Process
  • 3. Stay away from toxic people
  • 4. Be appreciative
  • 5. Confidence

In fact, one of the puzzles of life is understanding yourself. The journey into this demands you to be sincere and always be real in every situation you find yourself in.

The path to building self-love is to first understand that you need self-love for the sake of you. Love your creation, growth, strengths and weaknesses and be happy about your existence.

But there’s more: I discussed steps on how to build self-love below.

1. Stop Comparing

Not even in this generation in case you didn’t know; people of the past also compared a lot. Know this, you’re not the only one struggling or having issues, people just try to live life, and comfort themselves in order to forge ahead. Loving who you are comes with inner peace and joy. Stop comparing yourself to others; you’re not on the same path as them, and your life won’t turn out the same way as theirs. We know that social media is a platform where different kinds of lifestyles are displayed but should that be a yardstick in analysing your growth? Absolutely no.

2. Trust the Process

When you hear ‘trust the process’, it is another way of saying believe in yourself. There is no effective trust other than the one you have for yourself. Whatever you’re aiming for or striving to be; you must trust the process of becoming that thing. All the bigwigs you admire today started with a simple step and they flourished gradually. Don’t be hard on yourself; everything about human life is a process. Embracing the ‘process’ means you’ve accepted your true self — this is a great path to self-love.

3. Stay away from toxic people

You must beware of people who belittle the efforts of others. Remember in life, it is your job to surround yourself with people who believe in you. This would continually push you to become a better version of yourself. You need the right energy to be able to prosper in your endeavours. Always bear in mind that you matter, including your opinion; anyone who makes you think less of yourself, let them go!

4. Be appreciative

One of the best ways to build self-love is to always reflect on where you’re coming from and the spot you are, at the moment. You’ll be able to know how to intensify your effort into becoming your dream self. Appreciate your growth and continue to love yourself; this is a path to inner peace and happiness. Nothing is too little to be grateful for; be it earning a school degree, acquiring a skill or securing a job – all these start with a mindset on how to achieve it but here you are; the dream is now a reality.

5. Confidence

Waiting for people to acknowledge you before taking a step or action all the time is not pleasant. You must understand yourself to know what is good for you. That person you rely on might not be seeing your vision; it is imperative to have confidence in yourself. Seeking approval from people can disrupt your journey to success; especially from people who are not capable of giving you genuine answers. Some people don’t even understand their lives.
