AHEAD of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State Chapter primaries, leader of the party, Chief O’tega Emerhor, disclosed that he has accepted to run for the Delta Central Senatorial Seat.
The disclosure at the weekend to Urhobo Elders and Leaders of APC at Emerhor’s country, Evwreni country home, has reportedly sent fears into the camp of incumbent Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who’s salivating for a second term.
Emerhor, who had once contested the seat in 2014 after the death of Senator Pius Ewherido, said the APC mission was to rescue Delta come 2019 general elections.
He said Urhobos had given their present representative at the Senate a ‘Red Card’ for dividing Deltans and failure to adequately represent the Urhobo interest.
The enlarged consultation with APC stakeholders also reportedly witnessed the defection of 1, 000 followers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the APC.
The defectors were led by Princess (Mrs) Yvonne Damaobakpolor, a former PDP Chieftain with a pledge to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Chief Emerhor for proper and effective representation at the Senate.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Emerhor said, “Now that you have said I should go to continue. You contributed your own money, came to me to present the Senate nomination last Sunday and I was shocked by your magnanimity and unity of purpose.
“I had to consult my family and others and they gave me their consent and I have filled and submitted my Senate form, therefore, we will go to direct primaries because those looking for automatic tickets are wasting their time.”
Emerhor thanked the Delta Central APC members, elders and leaders for the confidence reposed in him and vowed to not fail them.
He urged all APC members to ensure that they get their party cards including those who registered online, saying they are eligible to vote on the day of the primary.
Meanwhile, former Presidential Aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Imma Niboro, who are vying for the Federal House of Representatives’ position, commended Emerhor for building and stabilizing the party.
