No fewer than 20 students of the Osun State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Osogbo have reportedly contracted the COVID-19.
Investigations conducted by our reporter revealed that five out of the affected students were discharged from the isolated centre at the weekend while the remaining 15 students were said to have been placed under thorough watch at the isolation centre where they are being attended to.
As a result of the development, the management had, however, mandated all students in the school to with immediate effect go for COVID-19 test to determine their status.
In his confirmation, the state commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, said some students tested positive to COVID-19 in the school but refused to give the actual figure of the affected students.
He said: “just like anybody else, a few students tested positive. Not many. I can assure you.”
He, however, called on residents of the state, especially those with traits of sickness to go for COVID-19 test just as the number of coronavirus cases in the state increases.
