Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has pledged to renovate and re-equip all key Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state, saying their condition is unacceptable.
In a statement issued on Sunday evening by the information officer, Zamfara State Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, the Governor assured of overhauling key primary healthcare centers by the end of the year, including Shagari Primary Health Care (PHC), Dr. Karima PHC, and Bungudu PHC.
The statement noted that the governor’s commitment comes as part of his administration’s declaration on state of emergency on the health sector in the state.
During the visits to the aforementioned healthcare facilities, Governor Lawal expressed deep concern over the current state of infrastructure and the lack of essential medical equipment.
“The condition of our primary healthcare centres is unacceptable,” Lawal stated during his inspection at Shagari Primary Health Care (PHC).
“We are determined to transform these facilities into modern, well-equipped centers that can effectively serve the needs of our people,” the governor was quoted as saying.
Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, the state’s Commissioner of Health, expressed gratitude for the governor’s proactive approach to addressing the health sector’s challenges.
“Lawal’s commitment to revitalising our primary healthcare centers demonstrates his unwavering dedication to the well-being of the people of Zamfara State,” Maradun said.
