Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has made a shocking allegation that some individuals don’t want insurgency to end.
He revealed that certain individuals are profiting from the Boko Haram insurgency and do not want it to end. However, he did not specifically mention those profiting from the insecurity in the region.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Governor Zulum expressed frustration that despite successes recorded in the fight against the insurgency, some people are working against efforts to combat the group.
He noted that Boko Haram members are now returning to the region after being flushed out from Chad.
“There are people who don’t want this insecurity to end because they will not be happy with that,” he alleged.
The governor called on people to unite and support security operatives to address the Boko Haram menace.
