Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, better known as Oil Money records CEO, has recently revealed his reasons for starting up businesses in Nigeria.
The Asari Toru indigene of Rivers State is an oil and gas/real estate investor/car dealer and recently dabbled into the music business by opening Oil Money records in March, earlier this year. Besides his fame, he is also known for his philanthropy.
In a recent interview, he stated, “My passion since childhood has always been to become a business owner that gives people the opportunity they desire.”
Explaining his business philosophy, he said, “I don’t allow any opportunity to go unutilised, and I also believe that one business begets another business.”
Speaking generally about his life, the United Kingdom resident also said he loves staying connected to his roots.
“Although I studied at the University of London and since my graduation, I have been living in the UK with my family, I remain an African man, a Nigerian from the Niger Delta region,” he declared.
Part of staying close to his roots, he said, was the reason why he opened Oil Money records which, though a British company, is focused on discovering and nurturing Nigerian acts who are creative and unique in their music.
“In all that I do, business or philanthropy, my focus is Nigeria and at every opportunity, I make it known that I am proud of my country and my African heritage,” he stressed.
