Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue investing in the health sector in a bid to achieve the objectives of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The Governor also said that his administration’s partnership with international donors working in the health sector is undoubtedly achieving positive results considering the indicators emanating from the sector.
Bala Mohammed was speaking at the launch and publication of the National Guidelines for State-funded procurement of family planning commodities held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House on Monday.
Represented by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Representatives, Rt Hon Abubakar Y Sulaiman, the Governor said that since taking office in 2019, the health sector has continued to receive the required budgetary allocations in line with the Abuja Declaration of 15 percent of the total.
He urged the relevant health agencies in the state to continue to create awareness about the connotation of child spacing as the government remains committed to procuring the goods necessary for the success of the program in the state.
The head of the Office/program, Kaduna State Office of UNFPA, Mrs. Lloyd umkomgo, had earlier praised the Bauchi State Government for its inclusion in the program aimed at improving the standard of living of women of childbearing age and society in general.
She said that UNFPA would continue to support the Bauchi State on issues of family planning and other health care services for continued development.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adamu Omar Sambo, and the Executive Chairman of the State Primary health care Development Agency of Bauchi State, Dr. relwano Mohamed, had earlier in their separate remarks said that the gesture was part of Governor Bala Abdulkader Mohamed’s ongoing partnership with donor partners to achieve results in the development of the health sector.
The Commissioner on his own stated that the required awareness has been created to enable the program to succeed so that the set objectives will be met.
Rilwanu Mohammed on his own, assured that as soon the commodities were procured, they will be made available at all the designated health facilities across the state.
