THE Chairman of an international peace Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), a Seoul-based peace NGO as in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Mr Man Hee Lee, has declared that peace in Nigeria and the country itself is so dear to him, promising that the NGO is putting everything in place to bring the message of peace to the country.
Chairman Man Hee Lee, a Korean War veteran, stated this on Thursday in an interview with some journalists while fielding questions on the development of peace move across the continent of Africa after taking part in the 2018 Addis Ababa Summit sponsored by HWPL.
The host organization, HWPL, is proposing the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), drafted by the worldly renowned international law experts and has been working to make sustainable world peace through the DPCW as a document expected to be transformed into legally binding international law as a practical solution.
The NGO is seeking the support of presidents and former presidents to make sure that DPCW becomes a resolution for establishing a legally binding law for peace and that can fundamentally prevent war and conflict.
On peace move in Nigeria, Chairman Lee said, “I once travelled to the United States and I met a Pastor from Nigeria. During our discussion, I found out a lot about Nigeria and concluded that HWPL will take the message of peace to Nigeria.
“I got a message from the pastor in the course of our meeting, at the moment, I have sent two representatives of HWPL to Nigeria so as to meet people. So, Nigeria is so much special to me,” as he added that he is aware that representatives of various organisations, and in different capacities have been attending the annual WARP Summit in Seoul, South Korea.
He then promised that soonest, he will lead a delegation of HWPL on a peace tour of Nigeria.
The NGO recently hosted the African Leaders of Peace Summit in Cape Town, South Africa between 13-14 August 2018, while another conference held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which ended on Thursday, HWPL gathered African Social Representatives to Discuss Regional Harmony and Security.
The Conference on the prosperity and security of Africa based on peace was attended by youth, women, media, religious and political leaders, where resolutions on how to legalise peace as a necessity for harmony and reconciliation among nations in the continent was reached.
Meanwhile, HWPL, in its bid to build sustainable peace, is implementing peace education programs in various educational institutions and collaborating with educational experts and teachers worldwide to develop peace education textbooks and curriculums.
