Winners emerge in Rev. Idowu Foundation scholarship

THE trio of Emmanuel Edache Ejelewoicho, Babalola Oreoluwa Faith and Emmanuel Adebiyi Oluwadamilare have emerged winners of the maiden Reverend Modupe Idowu scholarship Foundation.
They were picked after a thorough screening and aptitude tests conducted by a team of academicians including Professor Adenike Emeke of the University of Ibadan, who was the Chairperson of the the Scholarship’s Examination, Prequalification and Awards Committee.
Edache described his success as a dividend of hardwork and persistence.
‘’I am grateful for this opportunity and I will make the best of it. I know it was going to be tough to be picked but I was unrelenting day and night.’’
Babalola Oreoluwa , whose parents are teachers, said the scholarship will afford her the resources to take her studies on surgery more seriously.
‘’I wish to make my impact felt in preventing and curing terrible diseases and give life to the hopeless,’’ she explained..
Meanwhile, 19 year-old Lagos based Emmanuel Adebiyi, whose father is a graphic artist and mother a sanitation officer at the Lagos State University, thanked the sponsors for the scholarship.
‘’This scholarship will alleviate the poverty of my family. I am from a family of six, so, funding my education has been very challenging for my parents.’’
Chief sponsor of the Foundation, Bayonle Idowu, thanked the students who participated in the contest and assured that winning slots will be enlarged in subsequent edition of the scholarship as more partners get involved.
Idowu, based in the United States, said scholars like Dr Peter Ojo, Dr Peter Seyi Obitade, Professor Olusegun Ojo, Professor Emeke and others worked tirelessly to ensure the best emerged among the brilliant 84 candidates that endeavoured to vie for the scholarship.
