Ebonyi State Government has approved the establishment of the University of Aeronautic Engineering at Ezza South Local Government Area and University of ICT, Science and Technology in Izzi Council Area.
The state Executive Council gave the approval following a report of the committee on the draft bill and directed that it be forwarded to Ebonyi State House of Assembly for necessary legislative processes.
Commissioner for information and State Orientation Barr. Uchenna Orji disclosed this to newsmen in Abakaliki at the end of this week Exco meeting held at the new Exco Chambers yesterday.
Orji said “Exco received a report of the committee on the draft of the bill for a law to establish the University of Aeronautic Engineering in Ezza South LGA, and University of ICT, Science and Technology in Izzi Local Government Area.
Exco considered the report and approved the draft bill and therefore directed that it be forwarded to Ebonyi State House of Assembly for necessary legislative processes.
Orji also noted that exco also approved the partnership arrangement between the state government and SYNLAB LTD, whereof there will be a PPP ownership of chemical pathology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, etc in King David University of Medical science Uburu by SYNLAB Ltd.
He added that the Exco applauded Governor Umahi, for his efforts in building capacities for the Universities through private sector initiatives.
“Exco received a report on partnership proposal between Ebonyi State Government and SYNLAB Ltd, whereof there will be a PPP ownership of Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology etc to be established in King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu by Synlab Ltd. Under the proposal, the State government shall be entitled to 10% of the gross profit to be made by a company subject to an upward review of 15% after 3 years. Exco approved the partnership arrangement and applauded the Governor for his efforts in building capacities for the University, through private sector initiatives.”
He, however, noted that the former Chairman of Universal Basic Education Board Chief hyacinth who was on compulsory leave for months has been recalled with others.
“Exco noted the action sought by the SSG and resolved that the nomination made to the House of Assembly be withdrawn and the Chairman of UBEB, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor be recalled to continue his tenure as Chairman of UBEB.
Exco further approved the nomination of the following persons as members of the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) subject to the confirmation by the State House of Assembly:
a. Rt. Hon. Sabinus Nwankwegu
b. Mr. Osuji Nwanne Onu
c. Mrs. Ofefe Lucy
d. Dr. Gabriel O. C. Udu
e. Mr. Nathaniel Metu.
f. Princess Kate Elebe
g. Mrs. Grace Ngwu
h. Comrade Leonard Nkah
i. Mrs. Eucheria Offia Nwali
j. Adaeze Akochi
k. Mrs. Nnenna Otuonye.”
