Several months after notifying the world of its activities through the medium, Twitter has suspended the account of the deadly Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) Monday.
The Twitter account, @NDAvengers, has been a veritable avenue through which the militant group usually notifies the world about its heinous activities, views and demands.
Through the Twitter account, the latest exploit of the group, in which no fewer than five oil installations belonging to Chevron, NNPC and NPDC were, last Friday, and early Sunday morning attacked, were relayed to the public.
The group’s Twitter account page, when visited early Monday morning, read: “This account has been suspended,” asking users to “enter a topic, @name, or full name.”
However, TribuneOnline checks on the Twitter account of Voice Delta, @mangrovedelta, a pro-Niger Delta group, revealed that the account is still in operation.
Voice Delta has been at the vanguard of unmasking the identities of members of the Avengers as well as their modus operandi since May.
The group has always been calling on the attention of the Nigeria Defence Headquarters, President Buhari and the Department of Security Services (DSS) as well as other security outfits to give it some audience to reel out the deep secrets of the Avengers.
Meanwhile, a worker with the oil giant, Chevron Nigeria Ltd (CNL), whose well heads 7 and 8 at Abiteye in Delta were bombed early morning of Sunday, has disclosed that the company suffered low supply of crude oil during Sunday production.
“The attack on our well heads is already taking a toll on our production at Escravos. We are already experiencing low production as a result of the attack, ” the staff, who pleaded anonymity, revealed.
