A group of concerned commercial drivers in Oyo State have berated the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, over his alliance with the newly-appointed Chairman of Disciplinary Committee of the recently inaugurated Park Management System by the state government, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary.
Reacting to video footage being circulated on the popular social media platform, Facebook, in which Mustapha and Lamidi were spotted together, the group posited that it is wrong of Mustapha as the chairman of a political party such as the PDP in the state to be seen aligning with illegality.
In a statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Abdulmalik Ibidapo, and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday, it stated that: “It is quite unfortunate and disheartening to watch the PDP Chairman in Oyo State, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha in a video sitting side by side with a known ex-convict scandalously appointed as the Chairman of Disciplinary Committee for motor park managers in the state, a move we see as stylishly imposing an unqualified person on NURTW members in the state.

“Mustapha as far as we are concerned is supposed to be a political leader saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that there are peace and harmony as well as stability within the PDP in Oyo State. But it is sad to see Mustapha validating illegality when he is supposed to squarely face the enormous task of making sure that the PDP remains a force to reckon with in the political landscape of Oyo State.”
“May we ask, that how many times has Mustapha sat with the governor of Oyo State to deliberate on how to move the PDP forward in the State? How often does he convene meeting meant to take the party to greater heights? His alliance with an ex-convict of Lamidi’s magnitude shows how irresponsible and idle he is, hence we call on members of PDP in Oyo State to impeach him with immediate effect.”
Reacting to comments made by Lamidi in the video, the group described the park management arrangement system as a fraud as the money collected from motorists are not receipted. “The money, to the best of our knowledge are being shared between Lamidi and the park managers.”
