A 22-year-old trader, Mr Sunday Jimoh, on Wednesday appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing foodstuff and other items worth N100,000.
Jimoh, who lives in Alakuko Area of Lagos, is facing a six-count charge, including burglary, conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Emmanuel Ajayi told the court that the defendant committed the offence with others at large on March 14 at Kuburat Agbedeyi Str., Alakuko.
He said the accused broke into the shop of the complainant, Mrs Abosede Alawode, and stole clothes valued at N20, 000.
Also stolen, according to Ajayi, were three packets of Semovita, two packs of 5kg Wheat and one carton of Indomie noodles, all valued at N13,600, the property of Mr Kehinde Bola.
”Jimoh also stole two dozens of slippers, two dozens of filler top, two Tommy tops, all valued at N20,000, belonging to Muritala Halmot.

”He also stole a phone and cash of N33,000 all valued at N35,000, belonging to Mrs Titilayo Akinwumi, and another cash of N10,000, the property of Uche Lanushu.
“They all received a telephone call informing them that Jimoh broke into their shops and stole the items and had been caught,” the prosecutor said.
He said that the offences contravened Section 287, 411 and 309 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, Jimoh pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 287 of the Law prescribes a three-year jail term for the offence of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties in like sum.
Anifowoshe ordered that the sureties should be blood relations of the accused and must show evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case to March 28.
