EDUCATION is a major criteria in human development. It is a lifetime process because we learn everyday of our lives
It is of great necessity, therefore, that the Nigerian government invests massively in education for the growth and development of the nation.
If the citizens of nations are well educated and this is well harnessed by the government in ensuring that sound graduates are put in key positions in their affairs, this will help in ensuring rapid development.
In Nigeria, where up to 70 per cent of graduates are jobless, you tend to see crime rates at a high level. My advice to the Nigerian governmet is to set up special commitees to go to the universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the country to scout for students with outstanding abilities.
These young people should be recruited and trained to run the affairs of government wherever they can fit into.
Doing this will help in putting the right leaders in positions. We are in a country where most people occupy positions that are not related to their disciplines.
I also appeal to the Nigerian government to ensure that aptitude tests are done very well before recruiting any person into offices. A lot of Nigerians have certificates they cannot defend.
