THE Muslim Congress (TMC), Oyo State chapter, has inaugurated 11 patrons in Oyo East Local Government Area. The ceremony was held on Sunday at TMC Da’wah Centre, Owode, Oyo.
At the event, the Aare Musulumi of Oyoland, Alhaji Tajudeen Kamarise, was appointed as the grand patron of the organisation.
In a remark, Alhaji Kamarise commended TMC for its efforts in fostering pristine Islamic values and promoting unity among Muslims.
“We have observed your commendable work since the inception of TMC in Oyo town, and we are proud to say that you are among the pioneers of pristine Islam and a strong promoter of peace in the society. This is why we will continue to associate with your noble mission,” he said.
In a lecture, the Oyo State coordinator of TMC, Alhaji Daud Oladosu, listed the organisation’s objectives to include the promotion of the understanding of Islam, reviving the mosque’s institutional role in society, preserving Islamic values and ideals and fostering visionary leadership among Muslims.
Highlighting the progress of the organisation in Oyo State, Oladosu said, “Currently, TMC operates in over 590 mosques across 23 out of the 33 local governments in the state. By Allah’s grace, we will extend our activities to the remaining 10 local governments soon.”
The event, he said, marked another milestone in TMC’s mission to promote Islamic values and foster societal development across Oyo State.
Also, the TMC coordinator in Oyo East, Ustadh Sarafadeen Makinde, affirmed the organisation’s commitment to upholding Islam’s core values and sustaining the organisation’s humanitarian initiatives.
“Our humanitarian services include distribution of water through trucks to various communities, distributing food and cash to the needy, visiting hospitals, orphanages and correctional centres,” Makinde stated.
He noted TMC’s youth empowerment programmes and initiatives for artisans and professionals, emphasising their roles in building a better society.
He sought the support of the patrons for the completion of TMC Central Mosque project in Oyo East at an estimated cost of N28 million.
At the event where the contributions of past TMC leaders in Oyo East Local Government Area were celebrated, awards were presented to eight former leaders – Ustadh Abdus Salaam Atanda, Ustadh Afolabi Moroof Adeola, Ustadh Abodunrin Abdul Mojeed, Ustadh Abdul Rafiu Lukman, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Abdul Mumin, Ustadh Abdul Wakeel Abdul Ganiy, Alhaji Adejare Shahid and Ustadh Abdul Salam Kamil.
The newly inaugurated patrons – Alhaji Tajudeen Kamarise (grand patron), Alhaji Yusuf Rasheed (ROY), Alhaji Alowode Wasiu, Alhaji Fatai Ajala, Alhaji Adekunle Abdulwasiu, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Ome, Alhaji Abubakr Morakinyo, Alhaji Zakariyah Abdulazeez, Alhaji AbdulAkeem Aribidesi, Alhaji Abdulrahmon Mabolaje and Alhaji Hussain Jimoh Taiwo – were given recognition awards that were presented by the state coordinator, Alhaji Oladosu.
