TOGETHER with Addis Fine Art, Tiwani Contemporary presents Love Is A Practice, a solo show by Ethiopian artist Tizta Berhanu. The exhibition runs at the London gallery from 1 April to 16 May 2026.

The opening reception, with the artist present, is on 1 April 2026.

Offering a gentle look at the many ways love appears in daily life, the exhibition shows that in Berhanu’s art, love emerges as an ongoing practice. This practice is built not on fleeting moments, but on empathy, presence, and quiet devotion.

Centring on our need for support and connection, the exhibition features Berhanu’s dream-like scenes, built from transparent layers. Here, hands, faces, and gestures communicate empathy more powerfully than words. Through glowing colours, Berhanu reveals bonds between people, making connections feel at once fragile and strong.

Berhanu’s paintings show how closely our lives are linked. People often appear together, their gestures and feelings blending to reflect our social nature. Yet the art also points out that being physically close does not always mean we are emotionally connected.

Some paintings show people gathered quietly, holding moments together as their inner lives remain private. Even as we share space and responsibilities, the art implies, we may feel apart in our personal struggles.

Throughout the exhibition, gestures recur: bowed heads, leaning bodies, and joined hands. With these details, Berhanu highlights the weight of emotion people carry—alone and together—and celebrates the delicate closeness that emerges from shared vulnerability.

In Berhanu’s gentle scenes, love appears as an empathetic presence, staying with people through hardships without aiming to fix everything. Love Is A Practice suggests that love lives not in grand gestures, but in daily acts of simple presence for one another.

The exhibition takes place at Tiwani Contemporary, 24 Cork Street, London.
