PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has been called upon to appoint as ministers, peoplewith the inclination to serve Nigerians conscientiously, who also have the capacity to take informed decisions.
The Imam of Al Habibiyah Islamic Centre, Abuja, Fuad Adeyemi, made this call on Wednesday in Abuja after performing the two-rakat prayer in commemoration of this year’s Eidal-Kabir.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, Imam Adeyemi said those who will be appointed as ministers should see the development as a call to duty to serve fellow Nigerians and make positive impacts on their lives.
He said: “We must thank Allah for the kind of leadership He has given us in this country. I see it as Allah’s mercy to have actually decided on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We pray that He will guide Mr President to govern the country well and He will give us leaders who will be conscious of their responsibilities to Almighty Allah and to us as citizens.
“As Nigerians look forward to the president constituting his cabinet any moment from now, we expect to see people who can take informed decisions at anytime without being prodded; decisions which will benefit the whole nation.”
According to the cleric, Eid al-Kabir is not just a celebration of sacrifice but alsoa reminder for Muslims to be obedient to Almighty Allah in their everyday affairs.
Imam Adeyemo said: “Eid al-Kabir is a celebration of sacrifice, a worship in Islam. It teaches us to be obedient to Almighty Allah. My message to Nigerians and the Muslim Ummah, as I said during the khutbah (sermon) is that there is nobody that does not have challenges.
“As a nation, we have challenges that we are passing through now but Allah tells us that all these challenges that we are seeing, He is aware of them. He tells us that whenever we are challenged like this, all we need to do is to seek His forgiveness and be patient; that He will solve the problems for us as individuals and as a nation.”
