The Political atmosphere of Imo State on Thursday took a fresh dimensions following the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that upheld the victory of President Bola Almed Tinubu in the February 2023 presidential poll.
Not a few of the politically conscious indigenes of the state see the rulling as travesty of Justice and a tinder box capable of impeding the nation’s March greatness.
Chief Matthew Ugwuube, a octogenarian and renowned community leader lamented that contrary to the expectation of the masses who were firmly optimistic that the truth would eventually prevail, the tribunal ridiculously and unbelievably murdered justice by refusing to call a spade a spade.
He said: “My brother, do we still believe that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man? the funnest aspect of the whole thing is that the Western World including America and Britain gloss over this kind of democratic aberration whenever it rears ugly head and yet they claim to be the custodian of the world democracy”.
In his reaction, a Human Right Activist cum opinion moulder, Nze Ilezie Thomos believed that it is not yet Uhuru for the president.
He said that the matter which is of public interest must run it’s full legal gamut and make it’s destination of the Supreme Court.
He said: “let us wait and see what the apex court will do at the end of the day because whatever they say will be gazetted and it will become a reference point while urging the demoralized segment of the society to remain calm and peaceful untill the Supreme Court speaks”.
The highly revered human right campaigner advised the president to shun the temptation of extension any form of inducement to justice of the apex court to influence their thinking.
Also reacting, the a Catholic Priest and Spiritual Director of the Canaanland Adoration Centre in Onicha Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Rev Fr Dr Magnus Ebere, reiterated his prophecy that the wrath of God will soon visit the nation’s Judiciary especially those who pervert justice.
The Priest who was speaking at the Adoration Counselling Centre on Wednesday, while teaching on Divine Provision said that it will be disastrous for those Judges who pervert justice especially in the 2023 Election Tribunals.
He said that the type of deaths that will visit them will engulf the judges and their family members.
He said that the anger of God will be such that they will not be able to escape it as it will serve as a deterrent to others.
Fr Ebere called on the Judges to deliver their judgements based on Justice and fairness and not on the highest bidder.
On the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, Fr Ebere said that if they fail to deliver judgment based on the will of the people, they will be alive to witness what God will do in their lives and families.
