The Department of State Security (DSS), is keeping mum over the arrest and the whereabouts of the Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore who was allegedly arrested by men of DSS in the early hours of Saturday.
Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow protest scheduled to hold nationwide on Monday, August 5, was said to have been picked up at his apartment in Lagos and taken to an unknown destination.
This came just as strong indications emerged on Saturday that after Swore, a number of activists have been picked up at different locations in the country such as Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja and others over the planned nationwide civil unrest by the group
It was gathered that prominent among those said to have been picked up by security agents is a popular Social Media activist in the North and supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Idris, popularly identified as “Dadiyata.”
The activist was reportedly arrested by the operatives of the DSS on Friday night while his whereabouts was unknown up till the time of filing this report.
It was gathered that, already the nation’s security forces have placed several other activists, politicians, individuals and organisations on watch list following the renewed agitation against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari while security has been beefed up nationwide.
