Feeling sleepy after meals (postprandial somnolence) is common, caused by digestion focusing your body’s energy, but large, carb/fat-heavy meals or alcohol can worsen it by spiking blood sugar, triggering hormones, and disrupting sleep quality, leading to fatigue, poor sleep, and digestive issues like acid reflux.
To combat this, eat balanced meals with protein/fiber, stay hydrated, take short walks after eating, and limit heavy foods/alcohol before bed; see a doctor if it’s severe to rule out underlying conditions like sleep apnea or thyroid issues.
