A magistrate court sitting in Ibillo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, has sentenced six persons to six months prison terms.
The six accused persons, who committed the offence between February and June, 2012, were arraigned on two-count charge bordering on forcible entry and malicious damage of farmland belonging to Lakume/Okenegba families of Ikiran-Ile in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The six sentenced suspects were Oke Olowokere, Vincent Adeoye, Adeoye Samuel, Oloye James, Akomolafe Obafemi and Ahmed Ogbale.
Magistrate F. Okoro found the suspects guilty of the offence after they were brought before the court by police prosecutor, Inspector Abu Braimah.
The Magistrate declared that the offence was punishable under Section 517 of the Criminal Code, cap 48, vol. II defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 and applicable in Edo State of Nigeria.
They were, however given an option of fine of N130,000 each.
