ADVERTISING legend and Chairman, Troyka Holdings, Dr. Biodun Shobanjo; Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, are among three prominent Nigerians to be honoured at the third edition of The Industry Awards and Summit, scheduled to host, this week, in Lagos.
Making the disclosure to Brands & Marketing, over the weekend, in Lagos, the Convener of the summit and publisher of The Industry Newspapers, Mr. Goddie Ofose, stated that the choices of the trio, and others, were arrived at, by the assessors, constituted by the Award Committee, after months of thorough and rigorous screening of the numerous entries submitted to the panel.
He added that the summit will also feature the celebration of three governors, Prof, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as The Industry Governors of the Year- Overall, Job Creation and Infrastructure, respectively.
Ofose explained that the assessors had painstakingly reviewed the impact of governance by these Governors in Nigeria on their states and settled for the three governors.
He added that this year’s event, tagged: “Financial inclusion, digital payment and the challenges of banking the unbanked”, would be held in Lagos, on the 26th of April, 2022, starting with the Summit by 10am and Dinner/Awards ceremony by 6pm.
“The event is envisioned to bring together leaders of thoughts in Nigerian business landscape in order to rev up conversations that would deepen financial inclusion and proffer solution to the challenges of banking the unbanked.
“In a quest to extend financial services to the unbanked, particularly those in remote and rural regions, it is critical that we engender conversation about the viability of agents. Agents are retail storefront operators representing financial services providers with the delivery of financial services,” he stated.
