Scores of students escaped unhurt on Friday morning as fire razed the post-graduate hostel of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Reports said the fire started at a section of the building at the wee hours of Friday.
Most parts of the two-storey hostel building, specifically the second and third floors, were reportedly destroyed before the inferno was checked by fire servicemen of the institution.

The fire was attributed to an electrical fault which ignited the fire on the second floor of the building.
While some property of some of the students were reportedly destroyed, it was gathered that no life was lost in the incident.
Confirming the incident, the DELSU Public Relations Officer, Mr Eddy Agbure, described the damage to the building as huge but expressed gratitude that no life was lost.
