Mistakes happen in the kitchen, even with the best at the game. You could burn your food, overcook your food, or add excess salt to your food. The best part is that you can fix some of these mistakes.

1. Add water

Depending on the kind of food you’re cooking, if you want to reduce salt in your food, you can add water to dilute it. How can you achieve this? Pour water in moderate quantities and taste at intervals till you get the result your desired result. Avoid pouring plenty of water at once so your meal doesn’t become soggy. 

2. Add more ingredients

Your best bet sometimes could be to add more of the main ingredients for the meal that you’re cooking. This time, when you add them, you will not put in salt, that way you’ll have more ingredients to complement the excess salt in your food. 

If you’re cooking rice, you can boil more and add it to the food. If it’s vegetables, you can add more to it. This is just to ensure that your food is cooked to taste.

3. Add potatoes

It is generally believed that if you dip potatoes in your salty dish, it will absorb the excess salt like a sponge absorbs water. However, it might not be as effective as the rest because it tends to be soft. 

4. Add sweeteners

Sugar, honey, and other sweet ingredients like carrots can be added in moderate quantities to reduce salt in your food. Remember that they are sweeteners and you don’t want them overpowering your dish. The goal is to reduce saltiness.

7. Rinse food with water
