Speaking when he organaised a children’s day celebration at the Council’s head office in Abuja, Runsewe insisted that one thing that could be left behind, “is your culture and a people without a culture, is like a people without identity and can never make a progress”.
He told the Nigerian Tribune that Nigeria remains one of the greatest countries in Africa, where there was harmony and respect for different cultural values.

He said in the old, there was no case of tribalism, kidnapping or killings, saying “we were living together as one, but it is so unfortunate that today, the story is different as people are now more concerned with what tribe the next person is and if you are not careful, he would want to know what local government you are from”.
Runsewe said this was the kind of mindset that his agency was trying to change and the teachers in schools had a key role to play on the children as they needed to be guided for a better tomorrow and for the good of the nation.
