Rotimi Akeredolu sworn in as Ondo governor

Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has been sworn-in as new governor of Ondo State.

Akeredolu took oath of office on Friday as the sixth democratically-elected governor of the state.

He replaced Olusegun Mimiko, who formally handed over government to him on Thursday.

Akeredolu’s running mate, Mr Ajayi Agboola, had earlier been sworn-in as Ondo State deputy governor.

Among dignitaries at the swearing-in ceremony in Akure are President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki and state governors of Ogun, Niger, Kogi, Sokoto and Oyo states.

Others in attendance include national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu and former APC national chairman, Mr Bisi Akande.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, who is also the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), also graced the occassion.
