The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has disclosed that access to modern learning tools is no longer a luxury but a necessity, as the Renewed Hope Initiative, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has commissioned 10 digital e-learning libraries in ten states, including Zamfara.
Speaking on Thursday during the formal commissioning in Gusau, the Zamfara capital, Mrs Tinubu stated that the project is not just about technology and computers but about empowering youth, bridging the digital divide, and opening new doors of knowledge and innovation to the people.
The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, said that in today’s digital world, access to modern learning tools is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
“It is a great honour for me to stand before you today, representing Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, at this historic commissioning of the Digital E-Learning Library here in Gusau, Zamfara State, one of the ten states selected across the country for this impactful project under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).”
According to her, through this library, students, teachers, researchers, and the wider public will have access to a world of information, resources, and opportunities right at their fingertips.
“The Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by our beloved mother of the nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is driven by a vision to support education, innovation, and social development. This digital library reflects that vision; it is a promise fulfilled.”
She commended the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for executing the project with excellence.
“To the good people of Zamfara, particularly our students and educators, I urge you to make the best and most judicious use of this facility. May it serve as a powerful tool for learning, growth, and the building of a brighter future for generations to come,” she prayed.
Earlier, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, said that with ICT, people were being brought closer together and urged the Zamfara State Government to invest heavily in ICT.
